Al-Fuhais A rural Jordanian city located in Balqa Governorate, and represents the western gateway and green flank of the capital Amman. Its population exceeds 22,000 people, and its administrative area is 17 km2. It hosts many cultural and youth events throughout the year.

The first school in Fuhais was established in 1823 under the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate, followed by the Latin Patriarchate School in 1881, and the Catholic School in 1936. Today, the town hosts several distinguished schools, including parochial, private, and public institutions.
The people of Al-Fuhais trace their roots back to the tribes of the Arab Christian Ghassanid Kingdom, which flourished and dominated the Levant within the borders of the Byzantine Empire since the first centuries AD. There are important ruins in the site of Khirbet Al-Deir, which overlooks the Holy Land, the Jordan Valley, the mountains of Jerusalem and Bethlehem in Palestine to the west, and the mountains of Ajloun and Jerash to Mount Hermon to the north. Its origins date back to 800 years BC.

Al-Fuhais is famous for having a site Khirbet Al-Deir, The archaeological site dating back to the era of the ancient Ammonite Kingdom. Also, the buildings of the ancient Apostolic churches that embraced and nurtured the identity and spirit of the city for centuries and still do.
